After 10 years of homeownership, I have found that there are certain tools that are my go-to tools. Tools that I can not live without as a homeowner.
If you are a follower of this blog then you know I love tools! It is safe to say that I have used, abused, and broken my fair share of tools owning this house.

My house is a 1953 ranch with a daylight basement, it’s “bones” are as hard as a rock! I have broken many tools working on this old girl and have found that there are superior tools and brands that I love.
Here are the tools I use the most often.

Simple tools set: To be worth it, the toolset must at least contain a hammer, measuring tape, a set of pliers, a few hand tools, and a small ratchet set. Craftsman brand tools are great!
Cordless Drills: You should own at least two cordless drills a regular drive and an impact
This is the set I own and love, have had it, and abused it for over 10 years and they are both still working like a charm.
Putty knifes: Simply put, putty knives are great for so many home improvement projects. I love to have several sizes to fit whatever project I’m doing.
Shop-vac: Honestly can’t say enough about how much I love having a good shop vac. I use it for so many things. It is almost my number one choice on this list. When my husband isn’t home to get the spiders, I use my shop-vac.
Allen wrenches: So, I have always had a few of these around because I am an avid Ikea shopper. I never knew how useful it would be to have a good set of these around. If you own a bike at all you should have a good set of these for repairs. Good to have both an SAE and metric set.
Painters tape: So, this is not really a tool but I use this tape all over. I love it for painting but it also works well for temporarily holding items in place and for crafting. The fact that it comes clean off is so useful!
Caulk: Again, not a tool but I freaking love this stuff. I think about half of my house is filled with caulking. The woes of owning an old home.
Paintbrush: I believe I’ve used a ton of paint too. Cutting in sucks, not if you have an awesome paintbrush! I have probably bought at least 10 of these brushes over the years and keep going back because they are awesome!
Utility knife: You can not own a home without a utility knife. So many of them suck though! This one is great.
A FREAKING PENCIL: Why can I never find a damn pencil! Purchase pouch and a sharpener as well.
