If I could scream it from the mountain tops, I would say “I Love Anthropologie!” I have a deep affinity for all of their home items. But I have yet to ever purchase from them. Now, this could be because they just in the last month added a plus size clothing section? Or and the much more plausible, they are freaking expensive.
Case and point. The popsicles rug. Listed for JUST $42.00 (gulps loudly.) I love their style but hate their prices.

So here comes my brain to the rescue. I made the cutest Anthropologie inspired DIY rug for less than $15.00.

Supplies you will need are: click on the pictures to purchase
Plain coconut husk rug: Purchased mine from IKEA for $9.99. They also carry a smaller version for $5.99.
Acrylic paint: All of the paints I purchased from Michales with a coupon! The brand is Craft Smart, and the colors to purchase are espresso, French wine, dark orange, royal blue and a big jug of plain white. All together the paint cost me $3.00.
Freezer paper: You only need about a two-foot pieces of this so borrow some from a family member if need be. Check the dollar store!!
Craft knife: Make sure that your craft knife is sharp!
Cutting mat: Not really necessary but keeps my table from looking like a butcher shop board.
Foam brushes: These can be purchased from Michales, Amazon, Walmart and if your lucky the dollar store.
Pencil: Because, duh…
Iron: A decent quality iron should do the trick for this DIY. I had had my iron since my wedding day almost 20 years ago. Geeze!
Popsicles template: Just print these little dudes out on regular printing paper and cut and trace them out on the freezer paper.
