Not everyone out there loves the typical fall decor. You know, pumpkins and scarecrows with corn husks and leaves.
Now that’s not to say that I don’t like those things. I do, but, this year I wanted a little something different. After looking on trusty old Pinterest I found some ideas and implemented them in my own way. This year it’s all about shades of blue, cream, orange and wood.

FALL MANTEL – SHADES OF BLUE, CREAM, ORANGE, and WOOD
First, I found some really cute wooden candle holders from Michaels and Joanns (but you can find it on Amazon as well). They are unfinished wood which I thought I was going to paint but at the last minute decided not to. After finding the candle holders I searched high and low for some affordable candlesticks. Honestly, they were hard to find at a reasonable price, but, Hobby Lobby had my back! I ordered candles in Cobalt Blue, Light Blue, Ivory, Orange, and Turquoise.
Next, I decided to leave my old friend deer head up and design some sort of “necklace” for her to wear. Hence, the wooden beads. Michaels had the best price for the kind of beads I wanted. They do have some wooden beads at the dollar store that are already painted. If you decide to go with the dollar store kind just plan on painting them a neutral like white or beige.
I used beading wire to thread the wood beads onto. I attached cut pieces of wire to create the embellishments around the outside. This craft took me about 15 minutes to make! Let me know if you guys need a tutorial and I’ll whip one up.
ADD SOME PUMPKINS WHY DON’T YA?
Now for the pumpkins. Dollar store all day baby! The little pumpkins and squash are from the dollar store. I painted them to match the candles. This was a little tricky because I’m dumb and painted them before the candles arrived. So I had to repaint some to match the candles a little better. Just wait to paint them when you have the candles for a color reference. DUH! Shopping around Michaels I found the larger pumpkin. It was only $5 with a %40 off coupon. Woo Hoo.
As far as the flowers go. I purchased the silk flowers at Michaels. They were already marked at %50 off and I had a coupon for an additional %20 sale items, score. The felt flowers I made. I simply freehand cut out the petals and attached them to a small circle of Felt. A few of the flowers have a wood bead center covered in Felt. To make them a little more interesting I used some chalk to “stain” the felt so it looked more real. Again, if you want a quick tutorial of the flowers let me know.
VOILA!
Fall mantel perfection. I certainly love the use of different colors rather than the typical oranges and browns. I hope you love it too!
Like my mantel? Well, I built it. Heres the post on how I did it.
Happy fall!
