Chances are you or someone you know owns the Nintendo Switch. The Switch has been the best-selling gaming console of this generation. Nintendo has sold more than 22.86 million units as of September 2018. There are some things that are wrong with the console. One of which is that the Nintendo Switch dock scratches the console screen. NOT COOL Nintendo.

There are some savvy people out there profiting on Nintendos mistake. On Etsy, you can find things called Dock Socks or Dock covers. These will run you between $5.00-$30.00 dollars depending on the quality of materials. Well, guess what? That’s right, your girl has got your back. You can make your very own Nintendo Switch Dock Sock for cents!!
Maybe you have some fabric hanging around? Or how about an old t-shirt? Yeah, I bet you have one of those, huh.
HOW TO MAKE A NINTENDO SWITCH DOCK SOCK
All you are going to need for this are a few things you probably already have around the house!
Fabric: I used this Herringbone flannel fabric from Joann’s. They have Nintendo licensed fabric but I want something that will match my decor. You go with whatever floats your boat but stick with cotton.
Measuring instrument: I have a fabric tape measure but I like to use my ruler for this.
Scissors: Because you need something to cut the fabric. I like these fabric scissors.
A needle and coordinating thread (for the Sew version): I’m willing to bet you have this around the house. This is the kit I have and love it!!
Fabric glue: You will need this for both versions of the Dock Sock. I found that Aleen’s Ok to Wash fabric glue works best for my fabric. I would recommend buying this at Michales with a coupon.
I have made an easy-to-follow YouTube video tutorial. Please watch it for the step-by-step how-to.
It is always a good idea to put a shield on your Nintendo Switch screen, even with a dock sock! I use this glass shield by amFilm. It is easy to apply and comes in a pack of 2 for $9.99.
