Setting the Scene: Decor and Ambiance:
Deck out your space with football-themed decorations. Hang banners of your favorite teams, set up mini goalposts, and use turf-style tablecloths. Arrange seating in a circular fashion, ensuring everyone has a clear view of the draft board and screen. In our league, we choose our lineup online through an app so we have a little more control over choosing players in secret.
Food and Drinks:
- Tailgate Classics: Serve classic tailgate fare like sliders, hot dogs, and nachos. Set up a “Build Your Own Burger” station with an array of toppings.
- Snack Attack: Keep the energy high with various snacks such as popcorn, pretzels, and mixed nuts.
- Team Color Treats: Prepare treats in your team’s colors. Think cupcakes with colored frosting or cookies with colored icing. We are die-hard Seahawks fans but have a lot of family and friends who like other teams. I say go for your favorite team colors.
Draft Party Printable:
Create a printable draft board that participants can use to track their picks. Include columns for player names, positions, and projected points. Make it interactive by adding checkboxes for drafted players. Participants can fill in their team names and check off players as they’re selected.

I have created these draft day printables to give you an advantage in planning your picks before the big day. I usually start looking at my drafts a week before and list out the order of who I want from the best highest scorer to the least. Believe it or not, I do not save my kicker for the last pick. I have won many a game with the points from my kickers!
Fun and Games:
- Trivia Breaks: Sprinkle in trivia questions related to football, players, and teams during the draft. Winners can earn small prizes.
- Predictive Picks: Have participants predict who will be the top scorer, the sleeper pick, and the rookie standout of the season.
- Buy the trophy for the league and have it displayed as well as the losing trophy.
Draft Strategy Talk:
Encourage friendly banter and strategy discussions among participants. Share insights, expert opinions, and wild guesses on draft selections. In our league we are mostly family and good friends so there is quite a bit of crap talk! Especially to one of my best friends. Literally, the whole league talks smack to him, but we love him! LOL. You know who you are horse.
Prize Picks and Awards:
- Best Team Name: Have a prize for the most creative, humorous, or team-specific name.
- Draft MVP: Award the participant who made the boldest or most strategic draft choices.
- Display the trophy’s that the best and worst teams will win at the end of the season.
Stay Connected:
Create a social media hashtag for the draft party so participants can share their picks, fun moments, and even a bit of friendly trash talk.
A Fantasy Football Draft Party brings friends, football, and fun together for an unforgettable day. With delicious food, themed decorations, and interactive games, you can make this draft one to remember. So gather your fellow football fanatics, print out your draft sheets, and may your picks be winners all season long!
