Hello, hello!! Man do I miss everyone. Today I wanted to give all my amazing friends an idea of what I’ve been doing and using since the start of this pandemic. So far, these are the products that have gotten me through.
This post contains affiliate links. All products I use in real life! If you click on a link I make a commission. This keeps my blog going and NO stupid pop-up ad’s for you.
So last September I started a new job as a Social Media and Marketing Manager for the best pediatric dental office in Portland, OR. Seriously, they’re amazing. Since starting back with them I have neglected all my wonderful subscriber’s friends here. And for that, I am truly sorry! You guys are the only reason I’m still doing this and you deserve better from me.
With that said I was racking my brain as to what kind of information you may be looking at right now. Since we are all in this crazy vortex together I thought I would share the things that are comforting to me. In the hopes, you may find something on here that comforts you too.
Products that are getting me through this pandemic
Entertainment
This next statement is going to sound daft as hell but this pandemic has put my friends and family mortality into perspective. There are millions of people in the world right now that never got to say goodbye or ask simple questions to their loved ones. That is why I think that these books are more important than ever.
Yes, I know who Carol Baskin is…unfortunately. Let’s be honest, we all have watched too much tv. I know I have. That being said I am happy I had Netflix, Disney plus, Hulu and Spotify to pass some of the time. I also love my Ipad, especially now. I am fully aware of how spendy these are!!
Ipad:
I’ve had my Cricut since last August. I can say it is one of my most “mentally” valuable items. I keep really busy creating things for others with it. This too is not cheap.
Well, I’m just going to say it, this one is a little weird. Have you ever played with Shrinky Dinks? I feaking love them! You can make so many different things with them. Like jewelry, key chains, bookmarks, and cake toppers.
Staying healthy means getting out and getting fresh air and exercise. This means more now than ever. This is not the bike I own but its a good one. Of course, if you go out, practice safe social distancing and wear a helmet!
FOOD
Food, food, food. I did not know how to properly store simple things before this. No, seriously. After the initial shock wore off, I realized that I had no clue how to truly make food last. That’s why I love this book and these glass jars and silicon bags. How many of you made that whipped coffee? I did, and it was disgusting.
Weck small-batch preserving book:
Aside from the glass and silicon I also love these plastic meal storage containers. I make a ton of something and can portion it out and freeze it for later.
Single meal storage containers:
Ummm, I know I’m not the only one who has mystery items in my freezer and cupboards? I only got these after I realized how many single-serve containers I had that I couldn’t tell what was inside. And, I wanted to keep track of when I last bought flour and seasonings. Buy these once and you’ll never run out!
This leads me to my biggest weakness of this entire quartine, all-natural red vines, and seaweed snacks.
The last food item I’d like to tell you about is cheesecloth. Yes, good old fashioned cheesecloth. Do you know how many things you can do and make with this stuff? How about making ricotta from milk that about to spoil, or mozzarella. I used it to strain a ton of watermelon pulp that I had that was about to go bad.
Creature comforts that I’m loving!
Crocs! Yeah, that’s right. Those hideous shoes, that are quite possibly my favorite house shoes of all time. In our house, we do not wear shoes at all. So, we have a lot of house shoes. Crocs are my JAM!!! They support my arches, can be washed off very easily, and are super comfortable.
Okay, I’ll just say one word and y’all will know exactly why. LEGGINGS.
So, I have been working from home for over 4 years now, and haveing proper seating is crucial to your everyday routine. I have recently added this cushion to my chair since I seem to be doing almost nothing but sitting nowadays.
Along the home office vein, I love having my cell phone up and facing me. That way I don’t have to pick it up to see what the message or call is. It’s very handy having it at “eye” level with my laptops.
These next few products are for your hygiene. Most of you know that I am a “retired” pediatric dental assistant. So I’m a little particular on what kind of products I use. Being around chemicals my entire career I feel it best to try and stay away from them at home.
My ALL-TIME favorite toothbrush:
Essential oils for making my granite cleaner, poo-spray, fizzy toilet cleaner diffuser, and my hand sanitizer. If you’d like links to those posts check at the bottom of is post.
Acne patches. Yes, I’m 40, and yes I still need them!
I take my hair very seriously. By that I mean I am super protective of what happens to it. For about 5 years now I only cut it myself and use certain products to keep it healthy. My hair by the way is down to my belt line.
Seriously, the best thing I’ve done is that I started sleeping on silk pillowcases. My hair doesn’t tangle as much in the mornings and I have less breakage.
All of this sitting is not good for our circulation. I wear these type of socks most of the time when I’m working or lounging at home.
Last but not least are some super comfy and cozy sweats and tops that I’ve been living in for months.
What have you been doing?
I sincerely want to know what you’ve been doing? I would love to compile a list of activities, products, recipes, amount other things that are helping you through this time.
With everything happening from the pandemic to the monumental Black Lives Matters movement this time needs to be documented for posterity.
Please email me with anything you think might be interesting and Ill start compiling them into blog posts to document our time.
